Meanwhile, His excellence, Mr. Alin, president of Galmudug States expressed his immeasurable pleasures and excitements towards availability of fresh and clean water easily accessible to the women and livestock, forwarding gratitude of Galmudug administration and its population to the implemented organizations of Yme/ NorSom /GSA in general and the HRF-OCHA that funded the whole project.
The Jilable borehole seemed complete and started servicing the community as officially kicked off by the president. However, elegant constructed elevated tank and shining drawings on borehole facilities and kiosks caught the attention of the officials and the attendees of the inauguration ceremony.
Pleased with the achievements, the serviced community was expressing their gratitude and pleasure reflected on their smiling faces and hence prayed for goodwill advocates.
Nevertheless, pastoralists of Jilable and surrounded areas are most affected populations in the region particularly in the harsh seasons. Normally, the shallow wells, which are too saline and hardly drinkable to the people and livestock, used to dry up in the harsh seasons, a matter forces the community to immigrate to distant areas where they can found palatable water for humans and animals.
On the other hand, Mr. Elias Mohamed, one of GSA officers, told shabelle that Jilable borehole is twinned with rehabilitation of Matabaan borehole which was already completed and constructed new elevated water tank, 2 kiosks, and proved with new pump and generator.
The delegates then moved towards Qarqooro borehole to observe final touches of the operations. The elders and women of the community welcomed the delegates. His excellence, Mr. Alin, president of Galmudug States expressed his ultimate pleasure forwarded by the way gratitude of Galmudug administration and its population to the Norwegian organizations of Yme/ NorSom and their local partner GSA in general and the Norwegian Government’s ministry foreign Affairs in particular, which donated funding Qorqooro borehole.
The visit of the delegates to Qarqooo borehole coincided with pump installation process and presence of the drilling rig and its crew.
Speaking to Shabelle, Mr. Awale, GSA officer, asserted that the tripartite organizations had drilled so far in Mudug regions eight boreholes in Dowagaab, Ceelgula, Gawlalo, Gawaan, Jilable, Qarqooro, and Ceeldibor horizontal well. On behalf of GSA, Mr Awale also asserted that the respected organizations have rehabilitated Mataban borehole in December 2009 in Hiiran region and rehabilitation of Gadoon borehole in Galgaduud is in the last stages where already supplied the borehole with new pump with riser pipes and generator.
The organizations of Yme/NorSom and GSA have been active in Mudug and Galguduud regions since 2005 focusing their interventions on water, sanitation and hygiene sector, and women development.
However, The Yme Foundation/NorSom and GSA are regarded one of the most few pioneering humanitarian organizations in the region providing substantial humanitarian assistance to the destitute pastoralist population suffered for a long period shortage of drinking water because of recurrent droughts and delay of rains in the due rainy seasons.
